Rock is a durable, low-maintenance option that comes in a wide range of colors, sizes, types, and textures to complement any landscape. It provides a clean, finished look and doesn’t break down over time like organic mulches. For our installations at Valley Landscaping, we start by laying a 6mil contractor-grade plastic weed barrier to reduce maintenance. Then, we install 2–3 inches of decorative rock for lasting coverage and a polished finish. It’s a great long-term investment for planting beds and borders.

Shredded hardwood mulch is a natural, budget-friendly choice that enhances soil health over time. Because it breaks down slowly, it enriches the soil while keeping your landscape looking fresh and well-maintained. We typically refresh the top layer every other year to maintain its appearance and function. Our process begins with either a contractor-grade fabric weed barrier or a pre-emergent herbicide to control weeds. Then, we apply 3–4 inches of mulch to ensure full coverage and a clean, uniform look.

Boulders bring bold, natural beauty to your landscape and make a lasting visual impact. Available in a range of sizes, shapes, colors, and offerings, at Valley, each boulder is one-of-a-kind. They can serve as stunning focal points, natural seating, or even functional features like accent walls. We carefully source our boulders from around the Midwest, selecting only the most unique and attractive pieces. Whether used alone or grouped, boulders add structure and personality to any outdoor space.

Flagstone is a versatile, natural stone option that adds character and timeless appeal to outdoor spaces. Commonly used for walkways, patios, stepping stones, and accent areas, flagstone offers an organic look with irregular shapes and textures that blend seamlessly into the landscape. We install flagstone over a properly prepared base to ensure stability, drainage, and long-term durability. Depending on the application, joints can be filled with stone screenings, polymeric sand, or plantable ground cover for a more natural finish. Flagstone is an excellent choice for creating functional pathways and gathering spaces with a handcrafted, custom feel.
